My name is Nur Aimie Nabila and I am 19 years old. I live in Kampung Alor Limbat, Terengganu. My father is 43 years old and works at a wood factory, while my mother is a baker who mainly makes kuih-muih (traditional cakes) at home. I have four brothers and one sister.
School was a difficult period for me as I always get bullied by other students because of my disability. I managed to complete my primary education, but decided to quit halfway through my secondary school when I was fifteen. My favourite subjects were mathematics, history and geography.
Following my mother’s advice, I started working at Tapai in 2018 to earn some income.
I enjoy the opportunities that I get at Tapai. I learned a lot of new skills since I joined, such as sewing and making bags. Another thing I love about Tapai is the sense of family. I get to make new friends and spend a lot of time with them here. However, I still find sewing quite challenging and I am not sure if I can do it as a long-term career.
During my free time, I love dancing and playing badminton. I listen to a lot of Kpop, and I would dance with my friends for fun. I find it hard to live as a deaf person. I would like to travel more and see other places and people. So far I have only been to Kuantan (a town in Pahang, Malaysia that is roughly 2.5 hours drive away from Marang)
